Practical Home Maintenance Tips for Basingstoke Homeowners

Small maintenance jobs are easy to put off until a leaking tap, damaged seal or heating problem becomes harder to ignore. These examples from our work in Basingstoke and Bracknell show why it helps to look at the cause and agree the right scope before starting.

A worn tap does not always mean a new basin

At a Basingstoke home, age and limescale had taken their toll on the basin tap and waste. We removed the old fittings and fitted a black mixer tap with a matching waste, keeping the existing basin. The job took around an hour.

Investigate water damage before covering it up

During a full bathroom refit in Bracknell, water damage meant taking the room back to the substrate. We replaced the old bath with a 1200 mm shower tray and completed the refit in six days.

That is the timescale for this particular job, not a promise for every bathroom. The condition beneath the finishes affects the work involved. Keep heating symptoms and service records together

Record when a radiator stays cold, whether other rooms are affected and whether the hot water has changed. On one Basingstoke heating flush, our filter photo was taken after three of the home’s nine radiators had been flushed. Cold radiators had prompted that visit, but a flush should not be assumed to be the answer to every heating problem.
